Better Sister

Sometimes I think, could a be a better "big" sister than I am? I am the oldest of three, a seventeen year old sister and a nine year old brother. When I was younger, and even now occasionally, I hated being the oldest. It is cliche but there is a real responsibility to "be the oldest," which means setting the example. I need to never lose my temper because it will influence my siblings etc, etc.

But why complain? I do love being the oldest, and I wouldn't change it. I love being able to be the example, and giving them advice from my past experiences. Recently I have noticed I influence my siblings a lot. Alejandra loves musicals, and british culture because of me. I introduce Anthony to new music all the time, and he ends up loving it. But, maybe I could be better at the job, by making a better effort. There is always room for improvement.

Contacts Part II

Picture me practically in tears at 10pm on a Saturday night, in front of my mom's bathroom mirror. Why you ask? I became so frustrated after practically an hour of attempting to put a damn contact lens in my eye.

Mom - "You can do it. Just don't think about it. Look up."

Sister - "It's really not that hard."

Me - "I CAN'T! WAAAH!"

I really can't believe I am admitting this on my blog, to all three of you, but I started to cry. Like I tell Rafa, wearing glasses just isn't me. I don't feel like myself. I feel like I am just trying these out. The thing is I can't even touch my eye, and damn it, that night I really tried! I would get close, and my eye would automatically close itself. I felt so depressed and a failure. Even now when I think about my inability to put the damn lens in my eye, I still get sad. Will there ever be a happy, glasses free future for me?

5 Facts About Je$$

1. I looove meat. I make no excuses or apologies for it. I love it. As a Catholic, Lent was torture. No meat on fridays for two months(or so)? I respect you if your a vegetarian but it just ain't for me, although I could do without some fast food chain burgers. You know who you are. No need to name names.

2. I love malls. Arcadia, West Covina etc. I love all the stores, food and annoying kiosk salespeople.

"Excuse me Miss, do you have just a second so I can show you something."

"Noooo! I don't need to be brainwashed to buy a piece of crap straightner."

Just kidding. I wish I had the guts to say that.

3. I started driving a month before I got my license. I am a fast learner.

4. I adore music in spanish. Banda, Romanticas, Spanish Rock, Pop..anything! My iPod is about 80% spanish songs. I especially love Luis Miguel. I want to see him in concert. He's a hottie.

5. I am not sure of my future. I actually have been inspired lately by other's writing. I wish I had the guts to consider a career in journalism, but its seems so unstable and not "safe." Uhhh.

Glasses Vs. Contacts

And the battle continues. I have never, ever been able to wear contacts. Let me explain, I have always "known" that I wasn't able to stick something in my eye, so when my mom made an appointment for a contact fitting when I was around 16, I already had a bias. Let me just say it didn't work out.

I am forced to wear glasses. My vision is extremely bad, and even though I can't give you exact numbers due to the fact I have no idea what 20/20 or any of that jazz means, I am going blind! My vision gets worse each year according to the optometrist. With that in mind I feel that I am somewhat ready for contacts. Rather conquer a fear than be a four-eyed miserable biatch forever.

I tried to find a picture of myself wearing glasses to add to this post, and oddly enough, I can't find one anywhere on my computer!

Current Favorite Things

Pink Blush - Any kind! I wasn't really into any face products up until last month when I discovered bronzer. Due to bronzer being unpopular in the winter, I have moved on to blush, which I believe makes my face more lively and bright. I love blush! I want to try NARS in Orgasm.

Barack Obama - I love this guy so far. Everything he has done in his short time as President, I have agreed with.

Weather - I love rain/thunder...when I am inside!

YouTube - I've been obsessed with all things YouTube. You can find anything and everything on there. Last month I used it to help me wrap presents. It worked huh Rafa?

Costco Frozen to-go Pizza -This is probably on the list because I had it tonight, but it is soooo delicious. It tastes better than the pizza you buy at the Costco Food Court. With a three dollar coupon, the pizza was only 6 bucks!

Michelle's dress was made by previously not well known designer named Jason Wu. Lucky ass! The dress was beautiful though.
First African American president and that is all I can say? Sad.

I haven't blogged on here for a while. Okay, not that the obvious is stated, let's get the ball rolling. Let's start with a weekend rundown:
Friday-Hung out with Rafa all afternoon. Can't quite remember what I was doing before that, so we will skip it. We headed to the mall where I needed to exchange a coat I had bought online from Forever21. I went in with the intentions to exchange for a shirt I had been lusting over online for quite some time.
I asked one of the salesgirls and she believed that they didn't have them anymore. I ended up leaving with a super cute necklace, and a 12 buck Forever21 giftcard. After looking on their website again I have found another cute shirt I will look for next time:
Saturday: Saturdays are my families designated "clean the house" day. My mom, sister and I had the lovely task of cleaning. If you can't tell already my house is very stereotypical when it comes to gender roles; my dad and brother were outside working on the car. LOL That night I headed to Rafa's house. We rented Hancock, which I surprisingly really liked. The twist in the story was really unexpected. I don't want to spoil it for those that haven't it.

Sunday - Sunday was my first time driving to Pasadena alone! Well not alone, technically as my sister was with me. Can you say nervewrecking?

Today was inauguration day. We are all actually witnessing history! I want to post a specific blog about today, so expect that tomorrow.
